The Hoffmann Family of Companies has signed a letter of intent to purchase the former Emmaus Homes Campus and acreage in Marthasville, MO, continuing expansion in the region to nearly 900 acres.
The Emmaus Home Complex in Marthasville began as a seminary for the German Evangelical Church in Missouri. The campus of five buildings was completed by 1859. Four of the original five buildings remain on the property; Farm House, Bake Oven, Friedensbote (Messenger of Peace) Publishing House, and the dormitory. By 1928 the campus grew to eight buildings including the existing limestone chapel.
Located just 13 miles from Augusta, MO where the Hoffmanns own four wineries, six vineyards totaling nearly 850 acres, and multiple downtown buildings, the new campus will be their fifth winery and seventh vineyard to date. Martha’s Vineyard and Winery as it will be renamed, will offer employee housing for the upcoming 5-star hotel and spa as well as vineyards, event space, weddings and a tasting room.
Since the announcement in January of the planned $100 million investment to the area, the Hoffmanns have kept their promise on moving quickly, making improvements to all the Hoffmann Commercial Real Estate owned properties downtown to include fresh coats of paint, new roofing, structural improvements and groundskeeping as well as improvements to the wineries themselves.
“We’re excited about our growth in Missouri and look forward to our continued expansion of the region. The Emmaus campus is beautiful and fits in well with our vision and will offer additional employment opportunities to the area as well as allowing us to take care of our staff.” – David Hoffmann, CEO Hoffmann Family of Companies.
