The Hoffmann Family of Companies have added a third golf course to its portfolio, Old Corkscrew Golf Club in Estero, Florida. Awarded the “Best Course You Can Play” by Golf Magazine, the Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course advertises itself well as “Nicklaus Nature Nirvana” and it delivers nothing less.
The acquisition of Old Corkscrew comes just weeks after acquiring of Old Collier Golf Club in Naples, Florida and announcement of the building of a 12-hole championship golf course in Augusta, Missouri designed by Rees Jones where the Hoffmanns are investing $125million into turning the location into a national wine destination. The three golf courses will be headed by National Golf Director, Iain Mossman, a former recipient of the South Florida PGA Professional of the Year Award and previous manager of clubs such as Piping Rock Golf Club, Pelican’s Nest, Gateway Golf Course, Bighorn Golf Club, Old Collier Golf Club and recently Aurora International Golf Club in the Caribbean.
Carved out of the forested Florida environment in Estero, the Old Corkscrew Golf Club offers challenging golf in a secluded area surrounded by natural beauty. Taking its name from the winding Corkscrew River nearby, this lush semi-tropical location is beautifully enhanced with established stands of cypress, lofty pine trees and swathes of waving prairie grass.
“We are thrilled that David Hoffmann will be the new owner of Old Corkscrew Golf Club. David has a successful history of buying great assets and taking them to the next level. We appreciate David’s commitment to and investment in Southwest Florida and look forward to Old Corkscrew joining the Hoffman Group of Companies.” Phil Anderson, majority owner Old Corkscrew Golf Club.
Built in 2007, the Players consistently call the award winning Old Corkscrew “one of, if not the nicest course in Florida. No matter where you play from, this course is going to test your mettle. Water figures into most tee shots, coming into play on nearly every hole. You will also find many sculpted bunkers guarding the large fairway landing areas, as well as numerous greenside sand traps that add to the challenge of hitting the greens. In some cases you will be surprised to find a second water hazard lurking greenside.”
“It’s a great addition to our golf portfolio and a beautiful course. The undulating greens are known to be fast-paced and challenging. It truly is one of the best courses out there.” David Hoffmann, Founder Hoffmann Family of Companies.
