Florida State University, home of the Seminoles, is in search of its newest head football coach. Hot on the heels of Willie Taggart’s departure, Florida State has hired DHR International to lead the search efforts.

On Tuesday, FSU athletic director David Coburn issued a statement announcing the Seminoles’ contract with DHR International, a leading global executive search firm and part of the Hoffmann Family of Companies. The search is lead by Glenn Sugiyama, who serves as Executive Vice President and Global Leader of Sports in the firm’s Chicago office. Sugiyama has long been involved with coaching searches over the years, most recently with Utah State (Gary Andersen) and Arizona (Kevin Sumlin). Forbes describes Sugiyama as one of college sports’ top search consultants.

“We are confident that DHR will be a valuable partner in assisting us with identifying the candidates who best match our priorities for a head coach.”

FSU’s most recent coach, Willie Taggart, was fired last Sunday – just 21 games into his six-year contract. Coburn is hopeful to have a new coach hired prior to the 2019 season’s end. Sugiyama met with FSU‘s leadership team on Monday, according to The Tallahassee Democrat. Coburn says that Sugiyama shares their expectation of attracting a coach to lead FSU’s program back among the nation’s elite
