The lead installer is the primary position of our two man crews. This position requires a responsible person who can receive instruction about a given job, gather the components, and efficiently install the job to the quality standards set forth by the installation manager and field supervisors. This person must be knowledgeable enough about the product being installed to effectively utilize his helper’s strengths to complete the job within the allotted time frame without errors. A typical day would begin with no more than ½ hr spent at the shop in the morning making final preparations for the day than the full work day at the job site where a promising helper will learn to anticipate the needs of the lead installer. Every effort should be made to divide the tasks and work individually on the job. Once the job is completed the job site should be thoroughly cleaned and all tools put away in an orderly fashion. Upon returning to the shop the lead will get the job for the next day. It should be loaded and gone over making sure all parts are present.
